Spring 2022 - Business major credits scholarship with helping to maximize his potential

Alex Davide said "it was love at first sight" when he initially visited Baylor. Now a senior with a double major in finance and accounting, Alex still clearly remembers his impressions of Baylor as a prospective student. "The beautiful campus and stunning business school had my heart," he said.

His path to Baylor, however, involved a few twists and turns along the way.

The Miami, Florida, native said his parents were keen on his attending an out-of-state college. SMU seemed a logical destination, given that his two older brothers were studying there and loved their experiences in Dallas.

However, a campus tour of SMU - followed by tours of TCU and UT-Austin - left him unimpressed. "Baylor had sent me a free application in the mail," he said. "I was already in Texas, so I figured we might as well tour it."

Ever since that first day in Waco, he said, he's been a Baylor Bear.

A Well-Rounded Experience

Alex will graduate with a BBA in December 2022.

A member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity, as well as vice president of the Interfraternity Council, Alex said his extracurricular activities have been a valuable complement to his time in the classroom.

"Serving the Greek community has led to growth in my life I never imagined possible," he said. "One of my favorite experiences was winning the Greek Man of the Year award, which is given to someone who embodies the best traits of Greek life."

Alex is quick to acknowledge the importance of receiving the William Eugene and Eloise Eppner Kirkpatrick Scholarship, which was funded through an estate gift.

"This scholarship truly changed my life by giving me newfound financial freedom and the flexibility to pursue interests that I otherwise couldn't have done," he said.

As Alex goes forward from his years at Baylor, he said he will remember all those who have given so generously to help maximize his time on campus.

"Baylor has allowed me to have so many experiences that I never thought possible," he said. "The scholarship assistance truly made my senior year incredible and has allowed me to reach my full potential."
